Marian was born and raised in southern West Virginia, where she participated cross country and track throughout high school. After a three-year running hiatus in college, she decided to put forth her best effort to run again for Marshall University’s cross country and Track teams. Within only two short years, she broke five Marshall school records and earned all-conference cross country honors.

In 2009, Marian made her Marathon debut in the Yuengling Shamrock Marathon, placing 3rd overall in 3:00:27. She followed up her marathon debut with a personal best and third-place finish at the Eugene Half Marathon (1:21:09).

Marian is the assistant cross country and track coach at the University of Charleston. She is currently training for the 2010 Boston Marathon.
